Training Level A- is for those families' dogs in need of basic obedience or dogs that are experiencing behavioral issues which can include: puppy's, older dogs, newly acquired or adopted dogs. This level of training sets your foundation or basic commands, it creates rules and structure, teaches leadership and helps you to set realistic expectations. Our programs are based on whole dog training, which is structured around the mind, body, and ability of each animal. Training begins with the owner who teaches their dog using fair and consistent techniques, this contributes to your pet's emotional, physiological, and mental health.
We add flexibility for the family schedules in our programs that suit your busy lifestyle. It is during the initial visit that we assess the family's knowledge, handling skills, and evaluate the dog. The program is a step by step progression, lead by instruction and personal guidance from your trainer, in your home. We teach you techniques needed to train your dog, our programs are based on fairness and consistency, as we teach without forcing, dragging, or pulling, which can reduce the dogs reliability.
Each program is tailored and can have various focuses as no two trainings are alike.
Level A-Foundation Building: We understand that frustrated dogs can develop problematic behaviors. It is through the foundation building program that we can help eliminate these behaviors while teaching the basic commands. Typically this begins with the basics: dogs name, come, sit, down, and stay. At this level of training we accomplish both setting structural roles by establishing each family member in the packs ranking and obedience, to set expectations for acceptable behavior. Failing to set structure can cause confusion for the dog and in some cases develop behaviors: dominance, nipping, possession aggression, marking the house, and failing to respond to commands.
Let me show you how to motivate and teach your dog, by using techniques without relying on a cookie for bribes or harsh corrections.
Once you have successfully completed Level A Training, we can begin to work on Level B, Manners and Distraction Training.
Here what Dr, Cindy Charlier DVM, had to say: "Roxie was adopted as a young pup with an unknown background. We have had Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers in the past and didn't appreciate the difference in training techniques that would be necessary for Roxie. We hired Christine for in home training, mostly for training us….she was able to teach us how to communicate effectively with Roxie and to not give her ‘mixed’ messages. Now there are no free lunches, Roxie has gone from being unruly to listening and actually enjoying ‘working’ while she is training. She is anxious to please and willing to listen. We are committed to life long training with Roxie. What we now realize is that communicating and training each dog requires evaluation of that individual dog’s personality which Christine did very well. Roxie loves her and will miss our regular training sessions as we ‘head out’ on our own. It is too bad that we don’t have before and after videos. For us Christine was the super nanny for dogs!
