Level B Training: Manners, Distraction, and Behavioral. At this level of training we can set our expectations for specific behaviors in any environment or setting. We offer a step by step progression with instruction and personal guidance from your trainer. We teach you methods needed to train your dog and help you set realistic expectations. We fine tune your dog handling skills and present your dog with opportunity to be challenged, building upon what they already know to the desired goal.

Manner Training: Every family dog should have good manners inside and outside the home. Fox Valley's Tri-City area is full of people that include their dogs in activities and it is imperative to be able to rely on your dog to be obedient and well mannered. It is at this level of training we can expect our dog to sit and stay while being petted with in the neighborhood.  This is just one example of what can be accomplished.

Distraction Training: It is common to  hear complaints from my clients, such as; my dogs behaves well around the house, but as soon as we get out side they refuse to respond to any command. And if there is another dog or person or they see a squirrel, then you can forget it. The key is to choose the proper training method to help set the your expectation, let me show you how you can do this with your dog.

Every program is customized and we work on the problem that your dog displays, helping them become the perfect pet.

Behavior Training: Certain behaviors can be problematic for some owners and it may be difficult to find a technique to manage or correct. Dogs 4 Life considers "behavior training"  to fall under two categorizes:

1. Behavior that can be connected to the genetic disposition, temperament or breed quality of a dog, which are then prone to instinctual or natural behaviors.  For example, I get numerous calls every week from owners who struggle with a dog that pulls excessively while  on a leash either sniffing or when seeing a bunny.  This would be referred to as Prey Drive,  these behaviors are typical in hunting breeds.

Another example would be a dog that nips children while they are running in the yard. It is not surprising to find that these dogs are from the herding groups, this would be typical behavior for the breed, however, not necessarily acceptable.

2. Behavior training is also needed when working with a dog that learned a behavior that was never corrected at the onset, and now years have gone by and the behavior has escalated into a more serious issues. This may be typical in smaller dogs, because the owner does not feel threatened by a small dog that nips. However, if not corrected, this behavior generally escalate to a dominant, bossy and aggressive dog.

My training methods will teach you how to correct behavior problems  using fair and consistent techniques, that are customized to your specific dog, training needs and family goals.

This is what Jennifer Adams had to say;
"Max is a rescued beagle/spaniel mix who has been allowed to rule the roost for quite a few years. After he lost his companion dog Molly, he began to exhibit an increase in what I perceived as aggressive and jealous behavior. Over the years, vets had recommended sedatives, muzzles, and declared him "untrainable." I had just about given up when I was referred to Dogs 4 Life. Christine began working with us at our home, and she quickly saw that Max was suffering from anxiety, fear and lack of confidence. During our first few sessions, Christine patiently but firmly taught both Max and me that I was in charge, she then helped me to develop confidence in myself as Max's handler, as well as building confidence in my dog. We now began group obedience training with Christine, and Max has blossomed! He has made tremendous progress in his confidence, comfort level and ability to separate himself from me. Christine also helped me realize healthy dogs are better adjusted dogs. She taught me the importance of providing a truly health diet, recommended vitamins and directed me towards natural supplements to help Max become a more stable dog. I truly believe her approaches to both training and providing the nutrients they need are what have enabled Max to make such tremendous progress in such a short time.  Christine demonstrates a great affection and has celebrated our success right along with us, she has  been a constant source of encouragement, information and support. I am excited to continue working with her and Max, as well as with Katie, the newest addition to Max's and my Family.  Thank you Christine, for helping Max and me get to a much happier place in our lives!"
